Open Discussion and Respect for One Another

Time is going so quickly!  I can’t believe it is nearly two weeks since I abseiled off St. Mary’s in Devizes!  Yes, climbing over the edge and having an additional rope attached is not great for the nerves but all was good and I arrived on terra firma a happy bunny!  “Shaken but not stirred” and ready for a cuppa!  Thank you to everyone who supported me on the day, sponsored me and continue to donate after the event.  Next month I will know the final total and I am hopeful it will be close to £800.  Thank you all so much.

We are now looking for volunteers that would be part of a small group masterminding next year’s effort by Derry Hill for Christian Aid.  To this end there will be a meeting either on the 17th or 24th June to discuss.  If you are interested please get in touch with me and I will then confirm the time and date that is best suited to the majority (it may be a different one!) when I know when people can attend.

We have also just had a ‘Bring-n-Share’ lunch followed by discussion on how the church community can better serve the wider community.  As a church we are conscious that we would like to feel a much bigger part of the whole community.  We will be looking at this in more detail in the forthcoming weeks but hope that if anyone has any suggestions on how the church can better serve in the parish then I would be delighted to hear!

One way in which we are serving is to open up discussion about church, church life, the Christian faith and our own individual experiences of God.  Our life experiences are formational in how we relate to God and think about him.  If you would like to be a part of such a group then do let me know.  It is good to talk and there are no rights and wrongs in discussion.  We say what we think whilst being respectful to one another.

No doubt I will see many of you over the next few weeks, especially at the Fete where I expect to be resuming the barbecuing of copious beef burgers and sausages after missing the event last year due to holiday.  I look forward to it and pray for good weather too!   Please note that we are planning a service on the 12th to conclude the Fete.  It will either be in church or a marquee!   Watch out for notices!

With love and best wishes always.
